DESCRIPTION
We are looking for faculty and industry experts to join our team and promote our mission to deliver the best art and design education to students from all over the world. We are looking for instructors for our precollege programs to deliver aspiring designers projects in the following target disciplinary areas: Interactive Design / Fashion Design / Game Design/ Interior Design / Architectural Design / Product Design / Animation.
About our Portfolio Program
The Portfolio Program prepares students for an intensive study in art and design disciplines at an undergraduate or postgraduate degree level. Students receive a custom-built curriculum delivered by our world-class faculty who work or have graduated from the targeted top art and design universities. Students explore a range of fundamental skills, methods, and art and design areas, or elect to focus on a core/specialized field of study through project-based learning. Students can improve their existing portfolios, or advance their skills in a major of their interest through a selected number of creative WeDesign portfolio projects. Upon successful completion of the course, students will acquire the necessary skills, specialization, and body of work to develop a unique and strong portfolio which will prepare them to apply to their targeted art and design schools.
Responsibilities
Most of our classes are conducted online where instructors can choose to work either from the WeDesign Instructor Space or from their homes. Teaching opportunities can include giving workshops, mentoring, developing course projects, syllabi and delivering online classes.
Position Duties

Provide instruction on art and design projects via WeDesign’s specified learning management system (LMS) to student(s) from across the world:

Assist students in identifying A&D areas in need of additional instructional or portfolio support and provide targeted and tailored instruction;

Conduct course preparation on LMS to create a functional online learning environment;

Provide assessment on student development and outcomes via WeDesign’s specified assessment form;

Provide mentorship and guidance to students on assigned projects;

Provide constructive and thoughtful feedback on student work;

Availability to teach students between U.S. and Chinese hours;

May include developing pre-collective portfolio projects in disciplinary area
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates should demonstrate experience and expertise in one or more of the following art and design areas as a current instructor, professional and/or academic; Interactive Design / Fashion Design / Game Design/ Interior Design / Architectural Design / Product Design / Animation.
The candidate must have the ability to differentiate, create, modify, and adapt meaningful portfolio projects to meet a wide range of needs of the student population. The position involves curriculum planning and instruction, technology integration and all other tasks identified by the Director of Education.
As most of the instruction/education will be online experience in distance learning/online is preferable. Since a large number of our students will be international students, an ideal instructor needs to have a proven track record of teaching and/or leading in a culturally competent manner with a global perspective, working with diverse groups and fostering an understanding of and respect for diverse cultural practices. The majority of our students will have their instruction from WeDesign through a distance learning/online platform.
Requirements

Achieved a bachelor’s degree or higher, have extensive knowledge and practice in art and design education or related field.

Committed to learning about, furthering and modeling the innovative use of computer technology within the field as both an art medium and as a tool for communication, research, and instructional purposes.

Active in the profession through their participation in professional art and art education associations at the local, state, and national levels.

A teaching philosophy that demonstrates a clear pedagogical vision and incorporates innovative strategies that engage changing artistic, economic, and technological landscapes.

Working knowledge of active learning as a means to develop the major program and to more fully expand a student's problem-solving and critical thinking skills specifically related to art and design discipline.

Ability to develop and nurture individual student’s design abilities and a strong commitment to progressive design education.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, communicate and motivate effectively.
